Shimmick has received a Gold Shovel Standard (GSS) certification, what GSS calls “a widely-recognized indication of increased safety awareness and a commitment to continuous damage prevention improvement. Excavators that are members of the Gold Shovel Standard program rely on technology to measure safety and efficacy, and can present hard data to support their positive reputation.”
The certification recognizes Shimmick as a safe contractor for underground work and will allow teams around the company to submit bids to municipalities nationwide. To earn certification, Shimmick submit company documents such as our IIPP, Code of Safe Practices, and relevant training documents.
“The certification makes us safer excavators because we have to go through a training regimen with all employees performing excavation work,” says NW Safety Manager Anthony Riser.
