LAX Automated People Mover Project

For this project, Legacy Foundations has drilled over 26,000 feet, installed around 12 million pounds of reinforced steel, and placed over 36,000 cubic yards of concrete across more than 400 CIDH shafts. The team also installed over 4,300 feet of permanent shoring in large-diameter drilled shafts utilizing corrugated metal pipes (CMPs), leave-behind casing, and slip-in casing. During the project’s peak, Legacy worked in multiple shifts with up to five individual drilling spreads work to ensure safe delivery with zero recordables while following the aggressive project schedules, all within or near one of the largest international airports in the United States. The project spans roughly 2.5 miles, crossing busy public roadways such as Sepulveda and Century Blvd, and includes 266 large-diameter drilled shafts and over 150 small-diameter shafts of depths averaging 60 to 90 feet.
